Decades of experiences; one quest for understanding.
More than 14 years ago, I started a blog called Don’t Forget the Sparkle.
It was really just a place for me to capture my life—the big moments, like having a baby, but also the small ones, like making chili on the first cold day of fall. I’ve always been someone who likes to make a moment feel like a moment. To pay attention. To make a memory out of something that could have easily just been another Tuesday.

Back then, I called it adding sparkle.
And recently, I realized that underneath that blog—and a lot of what I’ve created since—has been the same question:
What makes a good life?
I stopped writing Don’t Forget the Sparkle years ago, but apparently I never stopped trying to answer that question.
It showed up again when I started talking on TikTok about luxury and what luxury actually means to me. Because yes, I like nice things. But at this stage of my life, luxury also looks like time. Rest. Choice. Good food. Travel. Being with people I love. Having enough space in my life to actually enjoy my life.

Then, through Sankofa Wellness, I started talking about New Wealth—asking what it means to be wealthy when money is only one part of the equation.
What about time?
Community?
Health?
Relationships?
Knowing yourself?
Having the freedom to decide how you want to spend your days?
And it hit me: these aren’t really three different conversations.
I’ve been asking the same question for 14 years.
The difference is that I keep coming back to it as a different version of myself.
I think of it almost like spiraling upward. I’m circling the same questions, but each time I come back, I have more life behind me. More experience. More information. More mistakes. More clarity about what matters to me—and more willingness to admit what I still don’t know.
As I get closer to 40, I’m thinking about this a lot.
Not just What do I want to accomplish?
But:
What do I want my life to feel like?

I don’t think I have one big answer. I actually think that is what I want this space to be about.
The good life. Luxury. New wealth. Wellness. Community. The things we were told we should want, the things we’re realizing we actually want, and how we build lives that make room for both ambition and joy.
And because I don’t think any of us figure this stuff out alone, I want this to be a conversation.
I’m curious about what other people are learning, unlearning and deciding for themselves too.
So maybe I’m starting a new blog.
Or maybe I’m just picking up a conversation I started 14 years ago.
Either way—
Sparkle on, folks.
